Congratulations to The Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House which was named best tourism operation under the Heritage and Cultural Tourism category at the 2010 Canberra and Capital Region Tourism Awards, held on 2 December 2010!

We are very proud to receive this prestigious award in our first year operating as MoAD, and among such esteemed company.

Director of the Museum, Jenny Anderson said “This is a truly great acknowledgement in our first year of operation as the Museum of Australian Democracy. The award is recognition of the achievements of all staff, volunteers and the Advisory Council who have worked with great passion and commitment to deliver the Museum to such a high standard”.

The Heritage and Cultural Tourism category recognises tourism operations that foster a greater understanding of history, heritage and/or culture. “We are committed to providing visitors with a hands on cultural experience of Australia’s democratic journey and contributing to the vibrant tourism industry in our National Capital” Ms. Anderson said.

The Museum will now represent the ACT and Region as a finalist in the Heritage and Cultural Tourism category at the 2010 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards to be held in Perth early next year.
