From the Oral History collection: Elizabeth Scott
In this excerpt from an interview in the Oral History collection, Lizzy Scott reflects on how the increasing numbers of women in Parliament created the need for a ladies hairdresser. She remembers fondly some of her “wonderful clients”, such as Joan Child, the first woman to be Speaker of the House of Representatives. She also recalls a clash of appointments by John Button, a Labor Senator, and Jim Killen, a Liberal Member of the House of Representatives. Listen in to learn how this was resolved…
Elizabeth Kay Scott was recorded for the Oral History program by Miles Farwell, a volunteer oral history interviewer, in 2002. The full interview is not currently available online but can be listened to in the Australian Prime Ministers Centre.
