Come along to our ‘Hats-Off to Democracy’ workshop these July school holidays.

Learn intriguing ideas such as hat honour and why Quakers refused to take their hats off in the presence of the King. Discover some of the ingenious head gear worn by protesters in Egypt during the democracy uprisings.

Try on some costume hats from our collection, learn about the people who might have worn them—you can even make a special democracy hat of your own.

This is a free family-friendly activity, suitable for kids aged 5 – 12 and their carers.

  • 9–13 July (Monday–Friday)
  • 10:30am–11:30am
  • Free after museum entry ($2 adults, $1 child/concession, $5 family)
  • Book early to avoid disappointment (02) 6270 8215

Nanette has been the Community Learning Officer at the museum since August 2011. She spends her time organising events like the ANU Debating Society Grand Final and writing school holiday programs. Currently she’s involved in the implementation of a Disability Action Plan for the museum and loves the idea that MoAD is becoming such an exciting and socially inclusive place to be. In her spare time Nanette is happiest with either a camera or guitar in her hands.
