Well-known Australians revealed to debate the topic most on Australia’s mind

The votes have now been tallied and the results are in. You’ve told us ‘what’s on your mind’ Australia! Steve Cannane, Tracey Spicer, Jeffery Robertson and Bianca Dye will be debating the topic Does ‘work/life balance’ exist for Australians today?

In the spirit of democracy, What’s on your mind? is about inviting everyday Australians to have a say on the issues that affect us all. The chosen topic will be discussed in a national public forum at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, in the House of Representatives Chamber on Friday 8 May from 11.00am to 12.00pm.

The debate will be hosted by comedian and presenter James O’Loghlin (pictured at right). You can still make comments on all of the topics and go in the running to be at the debate.

Founder and presenter of Hack, Steve Cannane, is excited about bringing democracy to life for Australians. “At Triple J we have lots of freedom in the topics we can discuss, there are certain taboos in society that people won’t talk about and we’re happy to talk about those kinds of things. We are always exercising democracy around the topics we feature on the show. We make decisions about what we’re going to discuss, who to interview and ask our listeners what they want to hear. I’m really excited about being voted to take part in the What’s on your mind? debate and would encourage Australians to log on for a chance to win tickets to the debate at www.whatsonyourmind.moad.gov.au”

On Friday 8 May, ABC Fora will be filming the What’s on your mind? debate, which you can watch on Sunday 10 May from 6.00pm and Thursday 14 May from 5.35pm. The debate can also be accessed by logging on to the ABC Fora website. ABC Fora broadcasts an eclectic selection of the most interesting, challenging and diverse talks and events.

More information about the debate, the topics and the panel can be found at our What’s on your mind? website.
