Past exhibition: Online exhibition

This collection documents the wealth of emotion that our building has and continues to evoke. When viewing this exhibition, we hope you too will reflect on one of the times you have been In The Picture. While the exhibition ran at Old Parliament House from November 2002 to February 2003, the idea lives on through our In the Picture at Old Parliament House Flickr group.

Do you have an image of a special moment at Old Parliament House? This online exhibition presented the wonderful replies to this question. To celebrate its 75th birthday, Old Parliament House called for people, from across Australia, to send us their pictures and stories of the House. The response forms a remarkable collection that tells an unofficial history of this House. 80 images were chosen from 284 entries to be exhibited at Old Parliament House.

The House is seen here through the eyes of insiders and casual visitors. Some of the pictures are family treasures. Others are keepsakes of a working life, of years spent tending the machinery of government. You will find magic snapshots here. These are fascinating instances of someone being at the right place at the right time to capture an extraordinary event: royalty passing by, the fall of a government or even a Prime Ministerial snowman sitting outside the Australian Parliament.
