John Frith drew cartoons for kids as well as grown-ups. His pictures were full of koalas and kangaroos, camels and clowns, giraffes and goats. John also liked to tell funny stories to his children. One favourite was Tommy Tickles, a story about a boy with a big feather who made everyone laugh.

Reproduced here is another Frith favourite, A Day With Chubby and Tubby, the adventures of two koalas in thirteen original cartoons.

		The day is fine The time is noon The weather is cold The month is June
		This I fear Is something new It’s not a sheep I heard it moo
		Said the cow Please don’t hide Jump on my back And take a ride
		What is that I heard a bleep Bless my soul It is a sheep!
		Hang on tightly Said the sheep When I turn I’ll give a bleep

		I’m big and fat Some call me hog Jump on my back And take a jog
