Parliamentary and Civics Education Rebate (PACER)
The Federal Government provides financial support to travel to Canberra under the Parliamentary and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program. Applications must be received 3 weeks before you travel.
To qualify for PACER, schools must participate in a booked program at the Museum of Australian Democracy. Schools must apply before travelling. For more information contact National Capital Educational Tourism Project on 1300 368 248 or visit www.ncetp.org.au.

Protecting our heritage
The Museum of Australian Democracy is a Heritage Place. In order to protect our heritage—food, drinks, backpacks, clipboards and pens are not permitted. Bags can be cloaked onsite.
Things to Do and See Nearby
The Museum of Australian Democracy suggests that schools allow an additional 30 minutes to explore adjacent features of the parliamentary triangle. Students can:
- Explore the Aboriginal Tent Embassy opposite Old Parliament House.
- Take photos on the front steps of Old Parliament House.
- Take a break in the Old Parliament House Gardens. The gardens offer drinking fountains and toilets.
- Walk to Magna Carta Place, Commonwealth Place or Reconciliation Place.
Photography in the House
Photography is permitted in all public areas except exhibition spaces. Please be aware that students share these spaces with the general public.
Old Parliament House Gardens
The surrounding gardens are a great place to enjoy a break. Toilet facilities are available.
