See Canberra in a whole new light this autumn when the museum doors open after-hours to host the wonderful Shadow Boy and hilarious Show us your Mandate!. Visitors can also enjoy the museum’s exhibitions after hours on Friday and Saturday nights during Enlighten.

Take a comical look at the world of pollies and power when late night comedy returns to the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, for one night only.

The museum’s 2013 sell-out Show us your mandate! will provide another night of hilarity and hijinks during Enlighten as Australia’s funniest comedians send up all things political. This is an 18+ event.

Show us your mandate

Shadow Boy

Be part of Shadow Boy, an interactive play written by Alana Valentine starring Channel 9’s Kitchen Whiz, Andy Minh Trieu. Shadow Boy tells the story of a young boy from Australia’s Federation era who uses his imagination to overcome his fears. Take part in the experience and make your own Federation Arch out of LEGO®. Enjoy this free family event, suitable for children aged 5 and over. For a special treat stay and watch the architectural projections on the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House after dark.

Late opening hours

  • 9 am-11 pm, 1, 2, 8 and 9 March
  • 9 am-10 pm, 10 and 11 March
  • Behind the Lines only 5 pm-11 pm, 8 March (as Show us your mandate will occupy the upstairs area)

Road closures

King George Terrace between Parkes Place East and Parkes Place will be closed 6 pm-1 am, 1, 2, 8 and 9 March. For more information visit the Enlighten website
