Four months after the election, new leader Sussan Ley was still besieged by division within the Liberal Party ranks. In May Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price had said that, should Angus Taylor become leader, she would contest the deputy party leadership. After Ley’s win, Ted O’Brien became deputy leader. Price stood down from the front bench in September after making comments that Labor was intentionally bringing in Indian migrants in an attempt to win votes.
