Good Morning, Canberra

Scott Morrison lies awake in a Cronulla Sharks-themed room. Brittany Higgins and Grace Tame look in through the window. Outside, the sun is rising, with the gender symbol for women visible.

On 9 February 2022 Grace Tame and Brittany Higgins gave a joint address to the National Press Club in Canberra. In their speeches, Tame and Higgins fiercely criticised government inaction on sexual assault allegations within parliament and child sex abuse. Two days earlier, Morrison, Albanese and other party leaders had offered a formal parliamentary apology to all those who had experienced sexual harassment, assault and bullying while working in federal parliament. The apology was one of the recommendations of the Set the Standard report handed down by Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins.
