The Jobs and Skills Summit, held in early September, invited unions, employers, politicians and industry and business groups to two days of talks about Australia’s current economic challenges. The federal government pledged to support the 36 immediate initiatives the summit had agreed upon. These included increasing the permanent Migration Program ceiling, amending the Fair Work Act to increase flexible working arrangements and investing in social and affordable housing.
