Fire Ants! Everything You Need to Know

Considered one of the world’s super pests, fire ants are an invasive species that pose a threat to Australian ecology and agriculture. As Andrew Weldon’s cartoon shows, they are also seriously aggressive insects. Fire ants are currently found in Queensland, but in July 2023 the Invasive Species Council raised the alarm that they could be travelling south. As the world’s climate heats up, more areas of the globe are becoming suitable habitat for fire ants.
