On 13 July Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate Republican presidential nominee and former president Donald Trump. Trump survived the shooting with only a wound to his upper right ear. Glen Le Lievre’s cartoon, which alludes to a Vincent van Gogh self-portrait, shows America with a self-inflicted injury should Trump win a second term as president (as, it turns out, he did in November).
