Assange in the Iron Mask

A person, labelled 'Assange', sits chained to a wall and wearing an iron mask that reads 'Aust indifference'. Text reads, 'The man in the iron mask…'

After five years in London’s Belmarsh Prison, Australian editor, publisher and activist Julian Assange faced trial for publishing classified US military information about the war in Afghanistan and Iraq on Wikileaks. In a compromise deal with the United States, Assange was found guilty of ‘Conspiracy to Obtain and Disclose National Defense Information’, which carried a sentence of 62 months. His time served in Belmarsh was taken into account, allowing him to walk free and return to Australia.
