Build Homes Not Prisons

Since the turn of the century 37 new prisons have been built in Australia, with plans to build another three in 2025, more than doubling prison capacity. Over the same period, even though the number of people incarcerated has doubled, thousands of cells remain empty, raising the question whether there is a real need for all the facilities.
