Immigration OR Housing

A long First Dog on the Moon comic addresses the housing crisis and the way in which the government tries to tie it to immigration, through small cartoon animals.

In the debate over how to tackle Australia’s housing crisis, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton suggested the problem was a result of what he regarded as high immigration levels. In his post-Budget reply, Dutton proposed cutting the permanent migration program from 185,000 to 140,000 for two years to ease competition for scarce housing. First Dog on the Moon outlines some alternative options for dealing with the crisis.

The Museum of Australian Democracy acknowledges Australia's First Nations peoples as the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We respectfully acknowledge the role that First Nations people continue to play in shaping Australia's democracy. We also acknowledge the Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngambri peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the region in which MoAD is located.
