The Eyes of a Needle

Text description coming.

On 9 April Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong told a national security conference in Canberra that 'a secure and prosperous future for both Israelis and Palestinians will only come with a two-state solution'. In response, Greens leader Adam Bandt suggested that there was no barrier to the immediate recognition of a Palestinian state, while Opposition Leader Peter Dutton declared that Wong had 'irreparably damaged our relations with our ally Israel'. Wong later clarified the Albanese government’s position, saying that it had made no decision to recognise Palestine. David Rowe brilliantly captures Wong's predicament.
