Welcome

A boat approaches a shore. On land, a politican says, 'Straight to Nauru for the lot of them!' Another says, 'Unless any happen to be tradies.'

In February a group of asylum seekers was flown to Nauru after being found in remote Western Australia. A month later, BuildSkills Australia, a new body established by the federal government to tackle Australia’s skills shortage in building and construction industries, said that an extra 90,000 workers would be needed to meet the government’s ambitious plan to build 1.2 million new homes in five years. Brett Lethbridge suggests that perhaps two birds can be killed with one stone.
