Lest We Forget

Text reads, 'Lest we forget.' Two sets of graveyards are labelled 'Men and women who gave their lives for their country,' and 'Women who lost their lives because men got angry.'

National rallies against gender-based violence were held across the country on the weekend of 27–28 April, only a few days after the annual Anzac Day marches. Cathy Wilcox’s cartoon links the two, echoing the anger and horror felt at the numbers of lives lost to domestic violence. By that time 25 women had died from gender-based violence already this year, 11 more than in the same period the previous year.
