Climate Action

A sign reads, 'Highest average global temperature ever recorded.' A child says, 'Why won't the government do something about it?' Their parent says, 'They have.' The sign has changed to 'Climate protesters jailed.'

During the year many people were arrested around the world for protesting inaction on climate change. In Australia, three people who blocked traffic on Melbourne’s West Gate Bridge in March were given jail sentences, as was a 21-year-old for disrupting the coal port in Newcastle in July. That same month, four people in Britain received a four-year sentence, and one person a five-year sentence, for planning ‘the biggest disruption in British modern history’ to London’s orbital motorways.
