In this cartoon Jess Harwood draws connections between the federal government’s energy policies and the cost-of-living crisis, both of which would continue to make news all year. In September the Australia Institute reported that the federal environment minister had approved seven new coal mines or expansions since May 2022, with 25 further new mine or expansion proposals awaiting a decision.
