Political Pandemic

A scientist tells a man about a political vaccine, but says unfortunately there is no 'syringe strong enough to penetrate the thick hide of the average politician'.

Stripped of its references to the pandemic, Leunig’s cartoon seems an almost timeless comment about the disappointing nature of politics in general, and some politicians in particular. When asked if a particular event had triggered this cartoon, the cartoonist commented: ‘It was made in response to a news item about political wrong doings which were so everyday that the details have escaped my memory.’
