I Don’t Know Much about Climate Art, But I Know What I Like

In a large gallery, Ken Done's colourful paintings adorn a wall. The last work is grey, and reads, '4th coral bleaching event.' A person says, 'I prefer his earlier work.'

Australian artist and designer Ken Done is known for his brightly coloured, broad brushstroked designs and paintings. The Great Barrier Reef has been one of his favourite subjects and is done justice by his style. In April the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, a US scientific and regulatory agency, reported the reef’s worst coral bleaching incident on record. Golding shows a reef drained of its brilliant Ken Done colours.
