Sir Edmund Barton and Sir Isaac Isaacs' coatees

Compare the symbols and kinds of clothing worn by historical figures.

A coatee is a type of short jacket worn by someone important on a special occasion. This video shows two coatees from the Museum of Australian Democracy collection which were worn by Sir Edmund Barton and Sir Isaac Isaacs.

Australia's first prime minister and our first Australian-born governor-general both wore coatees for special events – with matching trousers and hats, and even a sword. Which symbols and kinds of clothing go with what roles?
